EARIST – CAVITE HISTORY
The following are the hallmark of development during the tenure of the following EARIST Presidents:
DR. HILARIO G. NUDAS – 1972 – 1982 (College President) 1978 – 1982 (SUC President)
- Establishment of EARIST – GASAT (now EARIST -Cavite Campus – ECC) through Board resolution No. 007-1982 on March 24, 1982 approving the establishment and opening of GASAT as EARIST Branch in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite. The funding support came from the budgetary allotment of EARIST.
DR. FREDERICK SO. PADA – November 25, 1982-1987 (SUC President)
- Full support to GASAT as to its operation and management.
- Offering of more collegiate courses
- Achievement of students soared to greater heights despite the dearth of instructional materials and a school building to house the growing number of students.
DR. LYDIA MACARAIG PROFETA – 1988- 1991 (SUC President)
- Approval of the architectural plans for the envisioned school building and requested budgetary allocation of 27M for GASAT capital outlay.
- Initial ground breaking and laying of the cornerstone of GASAT main building on March 2, 1990 (Putting up of the Phase I.)
- Started the construction of GASAT main school building (Phase I) and finished it on July 4, 1990 with an initial allocation of five million pesos. (PhP5, 000,000.00)
- 500 ft. Deep Well with 10,000 gallons capacity tank with PhP350,000.00 appropriation started on March 1, 1990 and completed on April 27, 1990.
- Phase ll building project with PhP10,232, 113.72 actual expenses started on August, 27, 1990 and completed on Aprll 30, 1991.
- New courses were offered like the General Engineering course and the Architectural Technician Course.
DR. ARTURO P. CASUGA – 1992 – December 15, 1999 (SUC President)
- Phase IIl school building project started together with the putting up of 112.11 and 143.45 concrete school fence in front.
- Phase lV and V projects continued with a total actual budget allocation of PhP9,066,450.93
- Continuation of Phase VI building project with an additional fund of PhP 2,849,350.36.
- Phase VIl with an appropriation of Php3,133,165.81 was started.
- Phase VIIl building project with a budget allocation in the amount of PhP2,613,081.98 covered the concrete perimeter fence, fog lights, permanent stage, flagpole and multi-purpose pavement.
- Phase lX with PhP1,795,077.28 was appropriated for GASAT.
- Phase X building project got an allocation of PhP1,543, 020.59 was completed on December 16, 1999.
- Finishing of Phase lll to X (completion) including all structures and perimeter fence, quadrangle, gymnasium and multi-purpose.
- Initial appropriation of 2.5 M from Speaker Jose de Venecia for the construction of Phase l of the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex Gymnasium.
- 1M for the renovation of one building from Congressman Erineo “Ayong” Maliksi.
DR. MAURA A. BAUTISTA – Dec. 16, 1999- Dec. 15. 2007 (SUC President)
- Continuation of curricular offerings.
- BSHRM and BSE-HT courses were offered.
ERECTED DURING THE TENURE OF DR. RODRIGO P. HIPOL (JUNE9, 1982 – JULY 6, 2005)
A dedicated and output-oriented educator, he engineered the General Alvarez School of Arts and Trades (GASAT), now EARIST-Cavite Campus into a reputable institution of higher learning in the heart of the CALABARZON area.
A. Establishment of EARIST-Cavite Campus
- March 24, 1982 – EARIST Board of Trustees passed Board Resolution No. 007 82 approving the establishment and opening of GASAT as EARIST Branch in Cavite.
- June 7, 1982-Designation of Dr. Rodrigo P. Hipol, then Principal of the Boys Trades Department of EARIST, as pioneering Superintendent of GASAT.
B. Construct on of EARIST- Cavite campus school buildings
- December 29, 1983-Acquisition of 31,282 sq. Meter lot exclusively for GASAT School site donated by the National Housing Authority.
- December 8-10,1988- Relocation Survey of boundary lines of the 31, 282 sq Meter lot.
- March 18, 1989- Laying of the cornerstone for GASAT main building.
- March 2, 1990- Ground breaking ceremony led by Dr, Lydia Macaraig Profeta. This started the construction of GASAT main school building (Phase I) wih an Initial budget allocation of 5M Pesos from the congressional insertions of Congressman RENATO P. DRAGON, then representative of the 2nd District of Cavite.
- In one decade (1989-1999) the school completed the school building and infrastructure projects (Phase I-X) with a total cost of PhP42,682.157.40 all from the congressional insertions of Hon. RENATO P. DRAGON.
- Finished Phase l (June 14, 1999) of the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex Gymnasium with 2.5M appropriation from Speaker Jose C. De Venecia, Jr.
- Completed the construction / improvement of one (1) school building with an appropriation of 1M from Congressman Erineo “Ayong” Mailiksi on January, 2000.
C. Courses and Degrees Offered
- SY 1982-1983 – Vocational courses (day and evening were offered.)
- SY 1983-1984 – Secondary Trade and Trade-Technical Education courses were started.
- SY 1985-1986 – Start of the four- year degree courses (BSIT& BSIE)
- Five Additional courses followed suit – BSBE, BSCS, BSOA, BSHRM and BSH-HT.
D. Stellar Accomplishments
- Dr. Rodrigo P Hipol’s legacy to the GMA community is the acquisition of the school buildings (Phase I to X) and other infrastructure projects. Its present edifice speaks of the fruit of the struggles and the endurance, the number of privileged but deserving student it has sheltered and nurtured through the years.
- Coordinated closely with Congressman Renato P. Dragon for the yearly allocation of funds for construction of school buildings (Phase I to X) and school plant structures.
- Took a pro-active stand on the continuance of the operation of school when its legality was in question sometime in 1984 due to its establishment outside Metro Manila.
- Spearhead the preparation of school for accreditation thru its institutional self survey, being mindful of role played by accreditation ensuring quality education
- Successfully prescribed certain standards for its curricular offerings in coordinated with CHED and the policies of mother institution, result of which accounts to its high passing rate in LET,, career service professional/sub professional exams, UPCAT passers, Inter Cavite Secretarial skills Competition, Search of Little Municipal Officials and the host of other contest in and outside the school.
- Encouraged and support faculty member in their quest for higher learning which have produced seven doctoral and seven master graduates to date.
- Maintained a close working relationship with the local and national leaders benefiting students thru its scholarship programs among which are the CHED Scholarship Program (Senator Gringo Honasan) CHED0-Maliksi Scholarship, Provincial Scholarship and other civilian donors.
- Spearhead the granting of seminars and other scholarship grants to its faculty in the spirit of faculty development.
- Ever vigilant on student’s welfare, he continues to take her stand against taking of ECC as a satellite campus of Cavite State University ( CavSU) as it would mean higher tuition fees which the students could-ill afford.
- Equally mindful of its social obligation to the towns folk in general, the school thru the unwavering support of the dean. participated in series of outreach, activities namely the Computer Literacy Program under the tutelage of Mr. Joel H. Tolentino “Adopt a Barangay” , gift giving and other livelihood project through the initiative of other faculty members.
- Won the admiration of his peers and subordinates through his diplomatic approach.
- A man a few words and hands on dean, he instilled in the mind of his subordinates the value of industry and quality time with the students, the reason for our being in the teaching profession
