In the 2017 General Assembly of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) held at Centruy Park Hotel, Senator Loren Legarda (founder of Luntiang Pilipinas ) encouraged the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) to support her advocacy.  This is to address the worldwide issue on climate change.  In response to her call, the EARIST President Dr. Editha V. Pillo immediately requested her Executive Officials and Personnel to implement the Tree Planting Program at EARIST Cavite Campus.  The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Frederick C. Pena advised the OIC EARIST Campus Administrator, Dr. Nancy G. Liwanag to make the necessary preparations for the venue.

On August 11, 2017 thru EARIST President Dr. Editha V. Pillo, Executive Officials, Faculty, Staff and Students planted almost 80 seedlings at EARIST Cavite Campus in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite.
